A mechanical engineer helps plan, design, organise, and oversee the assembly, erection, commissioning, operation and maintenance of mechanical and process plants, and installations. To effectively design a solution, they need to have an in-depth understanding of various horticultural machinery and processes and be willing to learn about new systems. They must be able to communicate and collaborate with managers and staff to understand the requirements of machinery on farm. Mechanical engineers need to be organised to coordinate the ordering and delivery of parts to ensure products arrive before the deadline. Registration or licensing may be required.
