A cold storage manager works both on-farm and in food processing facilities. They oversee all activities in the cool rooms and large-scale freezer rooms. Cool store and freezer rooms are at most farm operations as they help to slow ripening and keep produce fresh until it is ready for delivery to market. A cold storage manager is responsible for running, directing, and monitoring a team of other workers and ensure the efficient movement of goods in and out of cold storage. During harvest time, the cold storage rooms have a constant flow of products coming in and going out, it is critical to keep on top of the status of products and maintain records in line with the quality system and customer requirements.
